Beauty With Plus - Napsugár (Sunshine)

Ciao Bella,

I met Napsugár (her name means Sunshine) couple of weeks ago on  the casting of Miss Curvy&Hot Hungary for an upcoming plus size fashion show. The casting went well, every applicants arrived with a big smile and they were really friendly. Then the door opened and literally the Sunshine arrived: the girl with the biggest smile, love of life and energy. They say after experiencing the hell you can appreciate the good times more – and I can’t agree more when I think about this young lady who told the story of her life to me.  Before our meeting I somehow felt she would inspire many with her story and actually I was right: I was listening to her with a smile and sometimes with tears in my eyes.

I'm not pregnant - I am fat!

Ciao Bella,

Sok telt lánynak ismerős lehet a kérdés illetve élethelyzet, mikor (főként ugye az alma alakúakat, nagy pocakkal) terhesnek nézik. A minap ezzel a "problémával" kapcsolatban kaptam levelet egyikőtöktől és gondoltam, a blogon is virtuális papírra vetem gondolataimat a témával kapcsolatban.

Many of the curvy ladies may have already experienced the situation (mainly the apple shaped ones with bigger tummy) when someone offers a seat as they think you are pregnant. The other day one of my readers sent me an email with this issue and I decided to put down my thoughts about this topic.

When did you stop thinking you are beautiful?

Ciao Bella,

From time to time Dove comes out with a new campaign to promote positive body image which are usually really well-defined videos and ads. Some months ago I showed you the portrait-drawing ad (CLICK HERE if you missed it) and now there is another interesting piece to think about...

Beauty With Plus movement - Renáta Vogt, plus size model, Hungary

Ciao Bella,

I met Reni on the Beauty Day event of Plus Size Advice, organized by its founder, Dóri who introduced me this constantly smiling, cheerful girl. Dóri was sure we need to sit down for a chat with Reni as she holds so many values worth of knowing. From the minute we met her positive energy radiated all around her and there was no need for words to prove: she feels just fine in her own skin!

Elfogadás // Acceptance

Ciao Bella,

These days are so hard to accept things - not that this process should depend on time or era but I feel often impossible to be open due to society, enviornment, media and trends. Impossible to accept!

Forradalom...de milyen áron? // Revolution...but at what cost?

Ciao Bella,

When I started the Beauty With Plus movement, I used the word "revolution" in those short video footages (all up on my youtube channel, however early videos in Hungarian only click here ) which word was meant to express a rebel filled with POSITIVE thoughts. However, a revolution must stand FOR something and not AGAINST a thing. Some certain opinions, comments appeared on internet forums and pages which made me write this post and to put things to rights...

A sovány lányokat lelövik, ugye? // They shoot the skinny girls, don't they?

Ciao Bella,

There more and more Facebook pages, blogs and forums for curvy women which is a fantastic phenomenon. I truly believe we must support and empower each other  - and most importanly, show the society that we are the same like anyone else, just in bigger clothes. Same...but do we need to be the same in each aspect? I don't think so...

Beauty With Plus movement - Amáli Fernandes, Miss Plus Size Sao Paolo, Brazil

Ciao Bella,

The Carnival of Rio de Janeiro, Gisele Bündchen, football  - just to name a few words which come to my mind when thinking of Brazil. The stereotype of Brazilian woman has curves, know how to dance salsa and has a flat tummy. But that’s enough of stereotypes – I did not have idea about the everyday women of this Southern American country until I got the chance to make an interview with one of the most beautiful of them in the plus size industry, Miss Plus Size Sao Paolo, Amáli Fernandes.

See your beauty through others' eyes! // Lásd saját szépséged mások szemén át!

Ciao Bella,

When I started Beauties With Plus movement my goal was to encourage, to inspire all those who read my interviews and stories about women whose "plus" I reveal in these blog posts. After these interviews I always send the final writing for approval and in the replies you thank me for making you look so beautiful by my words. It is not magic - I just see the beauty which exists in You and want to help that all readers discover that certain plus. Because the picture which you see and what others see may differ...

Mikor elkezdtem a Pluszos Szépségek mozgalmam, egy cél lebegett a szemem előtt: erőt adni, inspirálni minél több nőt, akik elolvassák eme bejegyzéseket, mikben feltárom interjúalanyaim "plusz" -ait.

Ciao Bella,

For long time I have been planning to share my thoughts on another self-acceptance topic which many of you may struggle with. We all know the popping question (though according to my Dad, you NEVER ask this question if you want to get out alive from such conversation) "How old are you?"....

I love my body // Szeretem a testem

Ciao Bella,

This quote from the wonderful actress, Kate Winslet is not new - but time has not importance when you read these lines.
Though I am not a mom yet - I am sure this is how I want to raise my future babygirl (or if it is a boy, he will also receive the same positive body image support from me). I believe that children must receive this positive body message from the very young age!
My mom is the most wonderful woman on earth and I also have a lovely sister - but barely I remember ever hearing from them "I love my body, I love how my curves embrace my figure".  Their conversations were rather about dieting, doing more exercises as genetics in our family determined our feminine curves.
These wonderful women are not to be blamed for such behaviour - I believe it is nation-specific or lets break boundaries: world-wide view.
Don't get me wrong - I do not want to start the whining about media and their deformed image what beauty is. Instead, I accept it is THEIR image of beauty- but not mine! And actually I encourage you to do the same.
We all know the minute we switch on the TV or open a magazine - we are bombed and advised to lose weight, to get rid off the cellulite, to vanish those wrinkles and so on. But then it is your choice whether you get into their game or you start swimming against the waves. Obviously, the latter is more difficult - and it takes courage, too.
Changes always threaten the majority of people and it always take time. Beside time it takes people. Like You. And me. Lets start the change and let our daughters have a positive body image since their childhood so they can hear their moms saying: "I love my body!"
Are you with me?
xxx
Susie

Ciao Bella,

Velem tartasz?

Csók, puszi, pá édeseim
